Chinese New Year

Well, tis more or less finished. I got done messing about with the lanterns, made them glow (scribbles of red airbrush and then layer set to Soft Light), then decided that I don’t want to draw a table.

Maybe next time.

The color of the highlights on the dragon’s scales look kind of “eh” to me, but I’m not sure how to fix them. Maybe if the rest of him was a lower value? Anyway, they can stay that way because I’m tired of this pic.

  1. The lighting of the picture makes it perhaps a bit tricky to do highlighting as well and given that the dragons scales are probably something that could be highly detailed… Meh. You did right. You understated it very poetically, implied the potential for further detail very well. Actually going overboard on the dragon scales and highlights might have resulted in the rest of the picture looking out of place, the focus being unbalanced or the dragon itself appearing to glow in the dark. And I apologize for saying earlier that there is no red because Sonics shoes are clearly red and I don’t know how I managed to overlook that. *sighs*

But I hope that you’re happy with this art, anyway and move on to the next projects that draw your attention. May your year continue to be a creative one, Net-san!
